  4. Our teacher took us and our classmates to see the National Archive in Šibenik. The half of class went, the rest of them couldn't go because they are passengers, so they couldn’t make it because of their bus rides. At 6.00 p.m we started out little 'journey‘ in The Night of Museums…

  5. The National Archive is a building in Mandalina, a small surburb of our city Šibenik. We never thought it would be like that. We got rid of one prejudices. We went with a bus that was full of people from Šibenik who wanted to see National Archive, that is one of the most appreciated archives in Croatia.

  6. Older people know how to have fun. We never thought it would be like that. We got rid of one prejudices… We had a lot of fun and we made some new friendships, especially with older people…

  7. When we got there we thought that the Archive would be some kind of a museum… … pictures of old books, archives and files…

  8. It was a building that had five rooms and two hallways…

  9. In one of the rooms we were shown a presentation and slideshows with pictures…

  10. Archivist • is a person employed in the archives, a professional who assesses, collects, manages, preserves, controls and allows the use of documents and other records of permanent value. • The information can be stored in any format (photo, video or audio clip, letters, documents, electronic records, etc.).

  11. Documents • When documents in a civil or administrative institutions are no longer needed for daily operations, archivists decide which of them are permanent, historical, informational and cultural value, and then submit the documents to the archives where being organized in order to protect them and facilitate their further use.

  12. Challenges for archivists • Evaluation document can be a challenge for archivists, he must choose material whose value justifies the cost of warehousing and storage costs and the labor-intensive process, description and reference services. • The main characteristic of the identity of the archivist is its function to protect the memory of a nation and preserve archives as part of the cultural heritage.
