  8. Intently • In firmly focus way with concentration

  9. Discreetly • In a manner showing good judgment cautiously

  10. Cherish • Treasure or appreciate

How appearance of flowers affect behaviors of others • Earnie: He became more social and made new friends, he is now happy and opened up his mind to the outside world • Dolores: She has a better appearance • Jack: He understands Earnie and becomes helpful and kind • Dick Wilcox: He started spending more time on the floor making conversations with costumers

Point of View • A crush is in Limited because you only know Earnie’s feelings • 1st person: character in story narrates it, see and know only what that character sees and knows • 2nd person: talking to you • 3rd person Objective: Narrator is an observer who can only tell what is said and done. Cannot see into the minds of characters • 3rd person Limited: Tells story from vantage point of one character, can see into one of the characters minds • 3rd person Omniscient: Narrator can describe every characters thoughts and knows everything about all characters.

  13. What makes Jack a Good Friend? • He is a kind man and he always wants the best for Ernie. • He takes him out to lunch every Wednesday • He helps plant his flowers • Overall he helps Ernie adapt to the outside world • Even though Ernie is different he treats him like a best friend

  14. People’s opinions towards Dolores • Avon lady- she isn’t very pretty • Ernie- He loves her and wants to bring her flowers • Other • People like her tattoo • She is a tomboy • People think she doesn’t want love
