BIATHLON CANADACOMBINING CROSS-COUTRY SKIING AND RIFLE MARKSMANSHIPALLIE LE SKI DE FOND ET L’ADRESSE AU TIR • Marketing & Fundraising Committee Proposal • Rationale: • Biathlon Canada currently does not have any major cash sponsors and has limited equipment suppliers • The only financial income in regards to marketing and fundraising are 2 intricate donation programs through other organizations (CAA, Trafalgar) • If and when we lose or decrease these 2 sources of income and have no other sustainable program in place, we lose 20% of our current revenues per year (very unstable financial position to be in at present) • Biathlon Canada is a registered charity and should use this status to its advantage and to the advantage of the Divisions • Biathlon Canada staff can not increase sponsors or donors on their own without outside help by others

BIATHLON CANADACOMBINING CROSS-COUTRY SKIING AND RIFLE MARKSMANSHIPALLIE LE SKI DE FOND ET L’ADRESSE AU TIR • Composition and Attributes • Minimum 4 members plus the Executive Director • Members to be willing to look for sponsors on behalf of Biathlon Canada’s National Programs • Members to possess some of the following attributes: • Background in marketing or fundraising • Willingness to create sponsorship packages and proposals • Have contacts in the corporate business world to pursue • Willingness to help pull together major fundraising events (run locally and in partnership with divisions) • Willingness to help create and commence long term fundraising / donation programs

BIATHLON CANADACOMBINING CROSS-COUTRY SKIING AND RIFLE MARKSMANSHIPALLIE LE SKI DE FOND ET L’ADRESSE AU TIR • Tasks • establishing the strategic (ie, long-term) direction for an integrated  marketing and sponsorship program, in order to  provide sustainable funding sufficient to support a Biathlon Canada high performance system as outlined in Biathlon Canada’s Strategic Plan; • developing through the annual Marketing Committee Operational Plan the detailed initiatives, objectives and  tasks required to implement the strategic direction each season, to include strategic solicitation and servicing of partners and the development and implementation of fund-raising activities;

BIATHLON CANADACOMBINING CROSS-COUTRY SKIING AND RIFLE MARKSMANSHIPALLIE LE SKI DE FOND ET L’ADRESSE AU TIR • Tasks continued….. • planning for and assisting in securing corporate sector support for all Biathlon Canada properties; • collaborating with the ED and the Media Relations to establish a pro-active media program to promote and enhance the National Team, Biathlon Canada programs and the Biathlon Canada Brand; • communicating with other appropriate internal and external agencies of Biathlon Canada (e.g. IBU and USBA) on issues within the Marketing & Fundraising Committee mandate;
