MF Procurement • Contract N68335-07-D-0006 awarded to Gichner Shelter Systems 08 Nov 06 • Five-year IDIQ contract for up to 1,000 units (234 ordered to date; 766 balance available) • Currently working with manufacturer on future product improvements • Lift Off Door Hinges • ECU Panel Latches • Pressure Relief Valve • Improved Corrosion Prevention

  6. Frequency Converter • Awarded contract N68335-06-D-0010 to Unitron 28 Mar 06 • COTS procurement • ECU-130/F is augment to ECU-108 • Five-year IDIQ contract for up to 51 units (14 ordered to date; balance available 36)

  7. ECU Procurement • Contract N68335-06-D-0015 awarded to Environmental Systems 06 Apr 06 • Five-year IDIQ contract for up to 1,000 units (741 units ordered to date; 259 balance available) • Technical features • R-134A refrigerant • Digital thermostat • Liquid charge • Quick disconnect fittings • Access panels • Increased cooling capacity

  8. ECU Procurement • Technical issues • Continuing to track quality issues • Improved brazing techniques by OEM eliminated refrigerant leaks at the rotolocks (quick disconnect fittings) • Phase Sensitivity • R-22 ECU uses a reciprocating compressor;R-134a comressor uses a scroll compressor that is phase sensitive. • R-134a manual (posed on NATEC website) cautions user about phase sensitivity • Exceeds current draw on the existing MF cooling circuit • Problem being addressed by SEC-5824

  9. Fleet Impacts • ECU Upper Fan Assembly Set Screw • Upper Fan Assemblies, 1559AS515-1, have been coming loose due to vibration even with application of Loctite thread sealant. • Cause is manufacturing error using flat point setscrews instead of knurled cup point setscrews to secure Impellers to shaft • ECU Serial Numbers 001-250 are affected range. Serial numbers above 250 are not affected. • Many affected ECUs have been replaced with correct screws at Config sites prior to shipment to fleet. Flat Point Knurled Cup Point

  10. Support Equipment Bulletin (SEB) needed for affected shelters delivered to fleet • SEB ECD 30 July 2009 • Contact either MGYSGT Freiler or MGYSGT Evergin if replacement screws are needed prior to SEB distribution Fan Assy Impeller
