  2. Listen to the cassette and complete the blanks with the words you hear! The Bad Impact of Hand Phone for Students Now days, mobile phone has already been a …fashion. Adults, youths and children, males and females own it. Almost every student ______ (1) it to school. Some use it in the right way but some others _______ (2) it in the wrong way. I would like to tell you that mobile phones have given bad impact for students. First, a lot of students are getting lazier-and lazier, they are more attracted to the …features offered by the mobiles than the lesson. They chat, send SMS, play games, they seem to be …absorbed by them. They look busy answering the phones calls or making SMS. It consumes time carelessly. Second, they break the morality of some weak person. They save …porn pictures or video. It will disturb their attention and concentration. They give more attention to them instead of the …instructions given by the teacher. In this case the students must be …smart how to use mobile phones, which way is useful and which one is useless. There are lots of futures that can support education such as internet …access, calculator, dictionary, if they are used wisely. Parents should take control the use of them. Give their children under seventeen with limited capacity. Last but not least they need to switch off their mobile while learning. Next spoken text Back to menu

  4. (W) “Indonesian Idol”, a commercial TV program which is broadcasted by RCT, one of the private TV station in Indonesia is a combination of a reality show and a talent show. “Indonesian Idol” is the Indonesian version of American Idol. I personally think that the winner of the talent show, is not guaranteed to be of good quality because the score comes from the audience and supporters’ SMS. People sometimes do not consider the jury’s comments on the contestants. They would prefer focusing on the contestants physical appearance. After the contest is over, only a few the winners get a chance to be professional stars. Why is it so? Because they don’t have great skills to be professional stars. It’s time for the committee to consider the winners not only from their popularity, but also their quality.

  12. A lot of people, especially teenagers, who do not smoke, always want to try smoking. They know it is bad for them but they still want to try. It is not only heart disease, stroke, and chronic lung disease but also bladder, lung, and pancreatic cancer. Even it was reported that around 400,000 Americans died each year. It was one every 80 seconds from tobacco-related illnesses.

  13. When smoker realize and decide it is stupid to harm themselves by smoking. They want to quit smoking. Unfortunately, they find that quitting smoking is so difficult. It is hard to quit because nicotine is powerfully addictive. Cigarette is one of the most efficient drug-delivery devices ever made. As a result, when people try to quit smoking, they often experience classic nicotine withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, irritability, headache, depression, and restlessness.Well, do still want to try smoking? Think again before trying!

  14. State whether these statements are True or False. There is a great temptation to smoke for teens. The great smoker even didn’t know how to light the cigarettes at the first time. Most of American teenagers died because of smoking. One will get addicted to smoke and never stop smoking. We may smoke just a little bit but must be ware of the danger of smoking.
