  1. GRUNGE Nirvana & Sound Garden

  2. Entrée The 1990’s was about delivering music the fans wanted to. During this time period, rock and grunge gained more popularity as more bands started to emerge. But this didn’t compare to hip hop and rap. Raw melodies and little instrumental technique, songs often characterized by a slow and confused intro to then explode in angry and screamed choruses: the grunge genre became strongly recognizable in a small period of time. Grunge didn’t survive for long and, like some of its pioneers, bowed out in the early ‘90s. Many were victims of what they tried to exorcize in their lyrics: heroine, alienation, uneasiness, and ended up killing themselves or dying by overdose; two among all: Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) and Layne Stanley (Alice in Chains). From the ashes of the first bands others were born and that are still alive. The Foo Fighters, The Queens of the Stone Age and many others.

  3. Main “Smells Like Teen Spirit”: this song was chosen as the anthem of the grunge movement. On a broad scale, this song entails all the striking issues that face every teenager: acceptance, self-worth, sex, and the like. It is riddled with apathy and hewn with sarcasm. As Kurt Cobain put it himself: "The entire song is made up of contradictory ideas. It's just making fun of the thought of having a revolution. But it's a nice thought." Nirvana

  4. Main In 1989 Soundgarden switched labels over to A&M Records and released louder than Love. It ran into some retail and distribution problems due to some of the album's lyrics. The track has some highlights though, including the distinctive riff Thayil plays at 3:09. It complements the slowness of the song well and is followed up with a repeated note, which follows the mood of the song. The lyrics in Louder than love point towards politics, covering up corruption's ugly truths. Positives… - Each track is distinct -Parody/Satire themed songs -Heavy and dark songs Sound-Garden

  5. Desert Due to unreliable team members “Desert” couldn’t be executed, much apologies to the judges.
