  2. Notes Jackie Robinson was the first black person to ever play in the MLB ( Major League Baseball ). Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia. He died in October 24, 1972 (aged 53) in Stamford, Connecticut by a heart attack He has tons of websites to learn about him. He was a really good baseball player. Every baseball player who retires has Jackie Robinson’s number on the back of their t-shirts.

  3. All About Him One of the greatest baseball players. He was one of The Civil Rights leaders with Dr. King when he retired from baseball. He was one of the most important baseball players in history. He says “That baseball is life for him. He was in the military. He was in the World Series and Hall of Fame. He played on three teams: Kansas City Monarchs, Montreal Royals, and the Brooklyn Dodgers.

  4. Why he was a hero He was the first African-American person to play in the MLB. He worked with Dr. King for the Civil Rights Movement. He was the one of the most important hero for black people. He showed his courage on the field by thinking he could do it. He didn’t let anyone stand in his way of playing baseball.

  5. Timeline page 1 On January 31st, 1919 Jackie Robinson was born in Cairo, Georgia. In 1920, Mr. Robinson left the family when Jackie was nearly two. In 1920, his mother Mallie decided to move to Pasadena, California. In 1929, Jackie and his friends called the Pepper Street Gang, they broke into the pool and swam and got caught by the sheriff ( Negros were only aloud to swim in the pool for 1 day a week so they broke in and thought it was unfair ). In 1937, he enrolled in Pasadena Junior College. In 1937, Robinson entered the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), lettering in four sports.

In 1941, Jackie played professional football for the Honolulu Bears, a semi-professional football team. In 1942, Jackie Robinson was drafted into the Army. In 1943, Private Robinson was commissioned as a second lieutenant. In 1944, He was honourably discharged in November 1944 following an ankle injury. In 1945, Robinson begins baseball career with Kansas City Monarchs, a negro team and was then recruited by Branch Rickey to play for minor league Montreal Royals. In 1946, Robinson married Rachel Isum, a nursing student he had met at UCLA. In 1947, Jackie Robinson brought to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers and became the first black on major league team. He suffered considerable racial abuse. The same year he was named 'Rookie of the Year' and featured on the cover of Time magazine. In 1949, Named the National League's Most Valuable Player. In 1956, Jackie Robinson he was traded to the New York Giants, but decides to retire from major league baseball. For the1950’s and the 1960’s,He became a vocal supporter of Martin Luther King Jr. and the National Association for the Advanced of Colored People.
