  2. What do you think framing consist of? Framing, in construction known as light frame construction, is a building technique based around structural members, usually called studs, which provide a stable frame to which interior and exterior wall coverings are attached, and covered by a roof comprising horizontal joists or sloping rafters covered by various sheathing materials.

  3. Now, what framed structures are? A framed structure in any material is one that is made stable by a skeleton that is able to stand by itself as a rigid structure without depending on floors or walls to resist deformation.

  4. Speaking about Structure Light-frame buildings are often erected on monolithic concrete slab foundations that serve both as a floor and as a support for the structure. Other light-frame buildings are built over a crawlspace or a basement, with wood or steel joists used to span between foundation walls, usually constructed of poured concrete or concrete blocks.

  5. Timber Framing Timber framing is the modern term for the traditional half-timbered construction in which timber provides a visible skeletal frame that supports the whole building. Along with other natural building methods, timber frame building has shown renewed popularity in recent years.

  6. Tudor Style Architectural style in England (1485–1558) that made lavish use of half-timbering, as well as oriels, gables, decorative brickwork, and rich plasterwork.

  8. Ballon Framing It utilizes long continuous framing members (studs) that run from sill to eave line with intermediate floor structures nailed to them. Once popular when long lumber was plentiful, balloon framing has been largely replaced by platform framing.

  9. Platform Framing The framed structure sits atop a concrete (most common) or treated wood foundation. A Sill-Plate is anchored, usually with 'J' bolts to the foundation wall. Generally these plates must be pressure treated to keep from rotting.
