  3. Progress to Date - continued • √ Tunnel committee to review schedule, risks, safety, means and methods (8/04) • √ Independent Cost Estimate (10/04) • √ FAC Review (10/04) • √ DOE Mini-Review (11/04) • √ Final Tunneling Memorandum and Geotechnical Investigation Report (1/05) • Document is being reviewed internally

  4. Progress to Date - continued • √ Title I complete • Major design progress accomplished considering late start of Title I (1/04-5/04) • Charrette sessions (brain-storming) • Multiple design reviews (30%-50%-100%) • 2 day VE session (collaborative team) • Report available indicating $5M savings • Title I deliverables and milestones were met on schedule • √ Interim services by JE between Title I/Title II • Engineering studies for additional cost reduction and value added opportunities

  5. Progress to Date - continued • Project Office has approved CLOC/NEH to be LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certified “Green” Building • A collaborative effort that bonds the design and construction practices to significantly reduce or even eliminate the negative impact of buildings on the environment and the building occupants from five broad areas: • Sustainable site planning • Safeguarding water and water efficiency • Energy efficiency and renewable energy • Conservation of materials and resources • Indoor environmental quality • Soft cost < .5% ~ $80K • Hard cost <2% ~ $325K

  6. Progress to Date - continued • √ Title II AE Kickoff March 29-30 • Although a significant amount of data was presented to JE, additional clarification is still pending • Freeze design date is scheduled for 4/8 • Interactive Planning session scheduled for 4/13,14 in Cypress • 30%, 60% and 90% design review scheduled • A commitment for a timely review and response back to JE is necessary • system mgrs • citizen committees • various groups and departments, i.e. CEF, ES&H, SU • We have asked JE to incorporate changes i.e. White Beam Optics Hutch, additional shielding, west entry into BTH, moving east entry into berm, FEH, etc • √ Geotechnical Baseline Report (GBR) proposals received and scheduled to be awarded 4/05 • Contractors for S20 and MMF will be awarded a best-value contract based on pre-qualifications for the GC and the subcontractors

  7. Progress to Date - continued • S20 Injector Facility currently out to bid w/ ~$1.1M construction package, ~$1.5M TPC (which includes $300K for LLP and $100K for prep work and relocation of the existing Pump Room). • Title III phase • Bids due 4/14/05 • Award May 9, 2005 • Onsite Mobilization June 1, 2005 • Beneficial Occupancy April, 2006 • Construction Hazards will do exist • Managed by SLAC trained UTR • Pre-work Hazard Analysis and Job Hazard Analysis and Mitigation (JHAM) will be performed by contractors • Subcontractor will be required to staff project with a Construction Safety Professional • Proper PPE is required to visit the jobsite. If you don’t have it, don’t go out to the job site • Risks, Challenges and ESH Issues will be addressed by the CAM in breakouts

  8. Progress to Date - continued • MMF (building #081) scheduled for job walk 4/07/05 w/ ~$1.5M construction package, ~$2.0M TPC (which includes ~$500K for site prep and electrical LLP • Title III phase • Bids due 5/5/05,Cinco de Mayo! • Award May 27, 2005 • Onsite Mobilization ~June 15, 2005 • Beneficial Occupancy Feb, 2006 • Construction Hazards will do exist • Managed by SLAC trained UTR • Pre-work Hazard Analysis and Job Hazard Analysis and Mitigation (JHAM) will be performed by contractors • Subcontractor will be required to staff project with a Construction Safety Professional • Proper PPE is required to visit the jobsite. If you don’t have it, don’t go out to the job site • Risks, Challenges and ESH Issues will be addressed by the CAM in breakouts
