  2. S3 Modern Studies • Pupils will have 3 periods each week • Pupils will study 3 different topics • Pupils will learn answer knowledge and understanding (KU) questions & skills questions • Pupils will complete a variety of different assessments throughout the year

  3. Course Details Pupils will study 3 different topics: Gun Crime in the USA Politics of Aid Punishments

  4. Gun Crime in the USA Pupils will examine gun issues in the USA and how this effects the country. They will be looking at different case studies relating to gun crimes such as school shootings and high profile cases.

  5. Politics of Aid Pupils will explore the difference between the developing and the developed world. They will be researching a number of developing countries and looking at the agencies which help those countries to progress.

  6. Punishments Pupils will explore a range of punishments used to in the UK. There will be a focus on prison systems around the world and alternative punishments to prison.

  7. Assessments Pupils will be assessed throughout the course by a number of different methods. Assessments include: • Presentations • Research projects • Decision making exercises • Answering knowledge and understanding (KU) questions and skills questions
