Grizzly Bears . The Grizzly Bear or Ursus arctos horribilis or also the common brown bear, native to northern North America and Alaska. Grizzlies are found in the northern part of North America. Dramatic gatherings of grizzlies can be found near prime Alaskan fishing ground.

  2. The Grizzly Bear or Ursus arctos horribilis or also the common brown bear, native to northern North America and Alaska.

  3. Grizzlies are found in the northern part of North America. • Dramatic gatherings of grizzlies can be found near prime Alaskan fishing ground.

  4. They are typically hunters gatherers eating fish and anything else they can get to, mostly a green diet. • They can weigh all the way up to 800 pounds although some have been recorded over 1,000 pounds.

  5. Grizzlies tend to dig dens in hillsides to rest for the winter and while hibernating is usually when the mother gives birth. • Mother grizzlies usually have twin cubs rarely ever do they one cub. • Grizzlies are predators.

  6. Grizzlies use to populate all of the western united states but during the westward expansion they were ran out and killed off now they stay in the Canadian Rockies and Alaska. • There was a population size of over 100,000 at one time and that was knocked down to under 1,000 so the (IGBC) labeled them endangered in 1983.

  7. There are approximately 200,000 grizzly bears in the world now. • Thanks to programs such as the Yellowstone park conservation act and the IGBC they are coming back.
