  1. Selecting A FoamPro System

  2. What Type(s) Of Foam Concentrate Do You Want To Proportion? • Class A foam concentrates • NFPA 1150 or US Forest Service Approved • Class B foam concentrates • Use of a lower % foam concentrate will increase the discharge capabilities; i.e., 1%x3% versus 3%x6%. • AFFF • AR-AFFF (Viscosity considerations) • Control at each discharge • Emulsifiers • Viscosity considerations

  3. What Are Water/Foam Flow Requirements? • What discharges require foam solution? • Pre-connected hand lines, trash lines, etc. • 2-1/2” and/or larger discharge(s) • Deck gun or aerial waterway (secondary feed) • What are min. & max. GPM requirements of solution? • What are min. & max concentrate levels? • Properly size proportioner, main waterway check valve and flowmeter

  4. Class B Foam Sizing Considerations • Performance expectations • NFPA standards • Storage requirements (On and off vehicle) • Logistical requirements • Concentrate proportioning rates • Control at each discharge (AccuMax single or multi-point injection)

  5. Sizing The Proportioner Gallons per minute of foam concentrate required

  6. Class A Example • Flow requirements • Maximum: One deck gun 500 gpm • Minimum: One 1-1/2” 35 gpm (mop up) • Concentrate level requirements • Maximum 1.0% (exposure protection) • Minimum 0.3% (initial attack) • Calculate concentrate requirements • Maximum: 500 gpm x 1.0% = 5 gpm • Minimum: 35 gpm x 0.3% = .105 gpm • Choose pump and flowmeter from charts
