Tell the story: The Premature Burial • Theme: the fear of being buried alive • Character: the man with catalepsy • Events: • Everybody is afraid of being buried alive. • What is catalepsy? • Catalepsy is a disease (or illness) that make people look like they are dead. • A cataleptic fit can last hours, or even days. • What’s happened to the Baltimore woman? • She had a cataleptic fit and was buried alive. • Three years later, her family discovered the truth. • The character’s cataleptic fits • The man gets more and more afraid of being buried alive • More afraid + more worried + more obsessed = more cataleptic fits • He has many nightmares.
