Thoughts • IDEF (entity-relationship) or UML (Unified Modeling Language) • IT departments will if not already be implementing model-based design in either of these two methods • If possible we should attempt to be agnostic, unless a leader approached XML Global to partner • Meta-Bridge • Tool for exchanging metadata between modeling tools, we could partner or just advise tool to customers http://www.metaintegration.net/ • Tool also migrates between IDEF and UML, but many modeling tools are filling this in the products

Thoughts cont’d • XMI Toolkit • Modeling tools export XMI which doesn’t allow for users to add critical customization • This is David Carlson’s work which we enhance, or look into IBM or other XMI toolkits, for enhancing or just packaging • XML Editor+ • XML Spy • Suspect it is best to be agnostic here as well

Thoughts cont’d • Coding • Java, VB, C++ • XMI Toolkits can generate some code for starters here • CASE • ComponentX • Or other vendor, which provides user defined states for machine, call Transform, and extensible via componentization of traditional code; Java, VB, C++ • Hopefully we can brand as part of Central

Thoughts cont’d • RegRep • Repository • Guide • Links the various tools to RegRep - Glue • Offers a methodology mechanism • Provides structure for other tools, “wizard” while using, editing in other tools • Access to RegRep on various artifacts • Initially cut & paste, later API and scripting interfaces

Thoughts cont’d • Transform • Not viewed as a mapper, but as a “service engine” which can do mapping as one of its services. • Metadata needs to come from RegRep, in addition to other source - perhaps load RegRep with Metadata • Need linking for BizCodes to be differentiator when up against incumbents
