  18. Budget by workpackage EC + national funds Twinning Research capacity

  19. Budget by cost type EC versus national funds

  20. Impact at national level • Upgraded level of research of Polish collaborators • Higher quality of academic education (undergraduate and PhD students) • Introduction of good standards of research organization as exemplified by the success of IIMCB • Positive influence on reshaping science policy in Poland • Increased social awareness of research contribution to sustainable development of the country

  21. Impact at European level • IIMCB researchers will become equal partners to their European peers • Better integration in the ERA: increased capability to enter scientific consortia applying for FP funding • Incentive for novel initiatives driven by technology transfer • Participation in reshaping of European science policy

  22. IIMCB without REGPOT • Imbalance between number of post-doctoral researchers and PhD students not corrected • Full potential of research groups not used • Limited cooperation with European partners • Low level of participation in FP7 and ERA • Reduced pace of IIMCB development towards research excellence at European level

  23. A better REGPOT? • New measure: founding of new laboratories led by outstanding researchers from more developed European regions • Agreement between PAN (Poland) and MPG (Germany) • Laboratory of Structural Biology MPG-PAN at IIMCB • Laboratory of Cell Cortex Mechanics MPG-PAN at MPI-CBG • Higher budget to include more beneficiaries

  24. Annual budgets in EURO HEALTH-PROT CEMBM
