With that being stated, let's delve deep into who we think are the top 5 emerging cricketing superstars across all the participating teams who are expected to leave a mark with their prowess and incredible talent. Emerging Cricketers To Look Out For In Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 Keep on reading to know which new talents are expected to play big in the 2023 edition of the World Cup tournament! Ishan Kishan, India India's Ishan Kishan made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka on 18th July 2021 and since then, has smashed multiple records and etched his name as a promising cricketer in just two short years. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) saw immense potential in the 25-year-old hard-hitting wicket-keeper batsman as he was selected as the No. 5 batsman and the second wicket keeper, after KL Rahul.

  2. Despite an underwhelming performance at the recent high pressure World Cup match against Australia where Kishan scored just 1 run, he is expected to exhibit his much talked about skills. In total, he has appeared in 26 ODI matches and registered 886 runs with an average of 42 runs! We hope to see Ishan in his best form at the highly anticipated India vs. Afghanistan match as a lot is riding on his shoulders as India's run machine, Shubnam Gill, will most likely skip the match as he's unwell. Dunith Wellalage, Sri Lanka Sri Lanka’s youngest player and spinner, Dunith Wellalage has had quite a meteoric rise, ever since his ODI debut on 14 June 2022 in a match against Australia. At just 20 years old, he is already winning hearts with his impeccable bowling technique, and ability to run across the field to stop that ball from crossing the boundary and catching important balls. During the recently held Asia Cup tournament, he picked 5 important wickets against Men in Blue and also scored an unbeaten 42 runs off 46 balls! He has appeared in 17 ODI matches till now and has managed to dismiss 20 wickets, bowled 678 times, and smacked 625 runs. That's not all, he became the first Sri Lankan captain to score a century in the Under-19 World Cup tournament and with 17 dismissals, became the leading wicket-taker! He is definitely raising hopes for his home team and is expected to take the World Cup tournament by storm with his formidable talent. Matheesha Pathirana, Sri Lanka Sri Lanka's 20-year-old Matheesha Pathirana, made his ODI debut earlier this year on 2nd June 2023 against Afghanistan. Often referred to as Baby Malinga as he modelled his bowling style after the retired bowling maestro, Lasith Malinga, Matheesha has been making waves in international cricket. His iconic IPL innings back his potential to be one of the rising stars of this year's World Cup as he took India’s star batter Shubnam Gill's wicket at his very first ball! He also became the youngest Overseas Player to win an IPL tournament after CSK won the 2023 IPL.

  3. He also performed phenomenally at the recently held Asia Cup where he took 4 wickets in a match against Bangladesh while letting the opposing batsman score just 32 runs. He is surely the one to look out for! Harry Brook, England Harry Brook, the 24-year-old right-handed batsman is one of the most talented players coming from England, whose long list of consistent performances made him one of the cricketers to look out for in the ongoing World Cup tournament. He is contending for being one of the top players in the tournament. Initially, he wasn't picked to be a part of England's 15-member World Cup but his streak of great performances ensured his ticket to cricket's mega event. However after Ben Stokes made his iconic comeback after retirement, he was picked in the place of England star batter, Jason Roy. He made his ODI debut at the beginning of this year on 27th January, 2023 and since then, has shown remarkable stance with his bowling skills. When his team travelled to New Zealand for the tour, he amassed 809 runs in 7 matches, tallying up an extraordinary strike rate of 98.77. Rachin Ravindra, New Zealand New Zealand's youngest all-rounder, Rachin Ravindra, made his ODI debut against India on 25th November, 2021. In the course of 2 years, he has managed to rise all the way to the top, even though he has appeared in 13 ODI matches till now. Despite his strong Indian roots, Rachin, a portmanteau of the first names of legendary cricketers Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, has significantly contributed to New Zealand's acclaimed wins. He is expected to smash some records, especially in the absence of bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner.
