  4. Tama Waterworks Reformation Strategy Formulated in 2013 Background 1.Pipeline network was developed insufficiently.  2.Aging facilities. Constructed in the 1950s and 60s.  3.Water supply easily cuts offwhen disasters strike. Improvement of Disaster Preparedness Plan Planned disruption of power supply in 2011 made it difficult/impossible to - Provide tap water by distribution pumps - Collect data for water supply from telemeters Water stoppage more than 260,000 households Batteries Telemeter for water quality Goal • Emergency generators are being installed at the facilities. • Storage batteries are being mounted on the telemeters. • Facilities are being renovated to make them earthquake resistant.

Summary • To overcome unique challenges in Tama • Developing water transmission network • Rezoning water distribution areas • Improving disaster preparedness plan • We will supply tap water in a stable and sustainable manner with the advantage of • regional waterworks along with a disaster management plan now and in the future!!
