  1. Science Fair Project Which Soda is the Worst for your Teeth? By Lauren Scardello & Julia Alvarez

  2. Statement of Problem • Which soda is the worst for your teeth?

  3. Project Overview • In our project we are testing four different kinds of soda by putting them in cups and dropping chicken bones in the cups. Then we will check on them everyday and write the data down on how they are doing.

  4. Research • We researched which sodas are the most popular. • We researched how soda affects your teeth. • We researched what makes soda so bad for your teeth.

  5. Variables • Independent Variable- Soda • Dependent Variable- Chicken Bones • Constants- The cups, the amount of soda, and the chicken bone sizes. • Control Group- The chicken bone we put in water.

  6. Hypothesis • We think that Fresca soda will be the best soda for your teeth, and Dr. Pepper will be the worst for your teeth. • We think that Fresca will be the best soda for your teeth because it has the least amount of sugar and sugar eats away the enamel on your teeth. We think that Dr. Pepper will be the worst soda for your teeth because it has a lot of sugar and a lot of caffeine.

  7. Materials • 5 cups • 5 chicken bones that are all ten inches • Fresca, Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, and Water in cups.

  8. Procedure • Step 1: Buy all the materials • Step 2: take all the chicken off the chicken bones and put them in the four cups. • Step 3: Put the various sodas and water in different cups. • Step 4: Let sit for 1 week • Step 5: Record the changes every day. • Step 6: Analyze and conclude data.

  11. Data/Observations

  12. Conclusion • We discovered that based on our experiment, Sprite was the best for your teeth because the chicken bone was the lightest and the least decayed. Diet Coke was the worst because it was the darkest.

  13. Applications and Recommendations • We could have bought chicken bones that didn’t have chicken on them. • We could have started this project sooner • We could have been more organized.

  14. Possible Experiment Errors • The density of the chicken bones may not have been exact. • The soda may not have been an equal amount.
