  1. Meadowland College Freshman Orientation August 24, 2010

  2. Moving In • Volunteers will help freshmen move in on the morning of August 24. • Drive to main gate to have a volunteer assigned to you. • Volunteer will accompany you to the dorm. • Volunteer will arrange for luggage carts.

  3. Getting Wired • After moving in, volunteer will help you set up your computer and demonstrate accessing the library and other online services.

  4. The Bookstore • Volunteer will explain how to avoid long lines at the bookstore and how to order online. • Volunteer will accompany you to the bookstore for a firsthand look around.

  5. Schedule of EventsTuesday, August 24 • 8:30 AM-11:00 AMStudent Check-in at Main Gate • Students will register with Volunteer Experience staff and receive room keys from Residential Services. • 12:00 PM-1:00 PMStudent-Parent Orientation Session at South Campus Hall • View freshman orientation slide show. • Question and answer period. • Volunteer Experience staff presents information about the Volunteer Experience program • 1:00 PM Student Lunch at the Main Dining Room • Groups will leave for sites directly from lunch. Parents can have the option of dining at the Food Court or local restaurants. • 5:15 PM-7:00 PMBarbeque at North Campus • Volleyball, cooking out, and group activities. • In case of bad weather, activities will be moved indoors. • 7:00 PM-9:00 PM Break to relax in rooms and unpack • Option to take campus tour. • 9:00 PM-10:30 PMBowling or Miniature golf • Get to know other students through a little friendly competition. • Price included in program fee.

Schedule of EventsWednesday, August 25 • 7:30 AM-8:30 AMBreakfast at the Main Dining Room • Use meal ticket provided. • 8:30 AM-9:00 AMGroups Meet to Leave for Volunteer Sites • 9:00 AM-4:00 PMWork at Volunteer Sites • 5:45 PMDinner at Local Princeton Restaurants • Sample dining around campus. Dinner cost is paid by college orientation program. • 7:00 PM -9:00 PMGame Night • Play games with other first-year students at Southwest Hall. • 9:00 PMMovie • Students divide into groups to view favorite summer flicks.

Dining Options • Meal Plans: Freshmen MUST participate in one meal plan outlined in dining options brochure. • Rules: • You must have an ID card to access your meal plan. • All meal plans apply to the main dining room. • Only meal plans in Category I and V can be used at the Food Court, located in the student building. Note dining hours posted for this location.

  9. Getting Around Campus • Go to the Visitors’ Center – Building B, located at main gate. • Pick up campus maps. • Learn some cool facts about Meadowland. • Bus Service • Local transport around campus. Picks up in front of main gate and will transport you to North and South campuses. • Night transport. Van service provides transportation around campus during the night. • Walking Escorts • Available at night. Dial 555-walk. • Call 555-555-5555 for more details about bus service.

Getting Involved • Attend the Activities Fair • August 28, Administration Building, 4:00 p.m., where you will learn about Meadowland’s many clubs and organizations • Student Clubs • Countless clubs, intramural sports teams, and volunteer organizations will enrich your mind, body and spirit. • Student-led • Student-created
