Previous Experience Livelihood Skill Training Program • Community Development Council (CDC) has very strong similar working experience in imparting livelihood training CDC is time tested organization possess expert with Master trainers and proven track record facilitation and technical assistance to different Projects in collaboration with Women Development Department, Malakand Rural Development Program (MRDP) and Community Infrastructure Project (CIP-II) establishing Vocational Center throughout the region Besides this the CDC has established Information Technology Centers for Women in collaboration with District Government Swat. These centers are providing computer literacy to the women of the locality and linking them with local market for jobs and services. • CDC has initiated some projects jointly in collaboration with District Government through Community Development Department, Agriculture Department, TMA & Union Council, like arranging training workshops, Seminars and community meetings on livestock management ,Food processing & kitchen gardening • CDC believes in the capabilities of the poor and got positive experiences and lessons regarding developmental projects with different national and International donors. It has proved that communities, especially the poor possess huge un-taped potentials for social and economic activities. To exploit these potential there is a need to remove the obstacles and constraints being faced by them to enable them to enter the market economy as equal players. • CDC embarks and brings changes each year with consultation and put lesson learn before BOD to evaluate progress, achievements yearly particularly to gauge, measure and compare all over with focus how much community members (male, female) where intervention proves beneficial for job/employment creating activities, opportunities. CDC through self initiatives enlarges linkages and coordination with Government, Private and especially with Women and Community Development Department to mobilize and utilize their resources and infrastructures for livelihood trainings of enhancing human potential. In this respect CDC in close collaboration with Agriculture Engineering Department facilitated Farm Services Centers (a representative body of farmers at District and each Agriculture Circle) Five (5) individual as Dozer/Crane Operator, live stock management and orchard management. • Besides this the organization in collaboration with social Welfare Department run Women Resource Centre with trained female instructors trained in different trades like stitching, tailoring, handicrafts and Computer literacy having close resemblance with RAHA proposed activity for livelihood training.

  4. Vocational Centers for Women’s: • CDC Policy is to provide skills to the vulnerable group of the community particularly to the women empowerment. For this purpose organization has establish 10th vocational centers in the district with collaboration of Social Welfare Deptt besides three vocational centers established in collaboration with Tehsil Municipal Administration. Due to these vocational centers the women has got encouragement and supply their readymade garments and other artifacts etc to the market and earn their livelihood honorably.

Brief introduction/ Background • Community Development Council (CDC) is a leading Organization of the area and it has a longstanding experience in the delivery of social services & Community Development CDC was formed in 1970 and was registered in 1971, popularized the social welfare services, socio economic development and created awareness to the maximum extent. The Mushroom growth of NGOs/ CSOs in the area is due to the efforts being launched by the CDC. It can be rightly called the mother of CBOs/CSOs of the area. • Community Development Council (CDC) do strongly believes in involvement of local people, local CSOs, CBOs, CCBs in the form of coordination, networking and institutional development. To achieve this objective, the CDC has carried out dialogues with the local CSOs to develop strong linkages and strengthen them for the social services delivery and ensure Community participation, cost effectiveness and sustainability in developmental activities. • CDC worked closely with the Government Departments, National & International Donors/Agencies for the socio economic development, improving the health, education services/facilities in the region. The organization has developed a good image and reputation in the community, Government and good working relationship with line department and developmental organization.

Community IT Institute for Women • CDC was established Community Information Technology institute in 2006 with the collaboration of Social Welfare department out of Women Development fund of District Government Swat Through these institute 6 Computer centers were established at U/C,s Level These centers have provided one & three months short course of basic Computer at their door steps 635 women benefited from these training

Vocational Centre for MRDP Community • MRDP requested CDC through Social welfare department for vocational Training for their selected women So CD was established Vocational centers at U/C.s level and provide training to 150 women in different trade like stitching, sewing and embroidery. Due to these vocational centers the women has got encouragement and supply their readymade garments and other artifacts etc to the market and earn their livelihood honorably

Experience with Agriculture Engineering: • CDC in collaboration/facilitation with Farm Services Center (FSC) trained farmers three each from one sub center in heavy machinery like Bulldozers, Tractors and Excavators to earn their livelihood provide services to the farming community. The trained persons are available when needed to Farm Services Centers in the offices of Agriculture Extension Department

Experience with Agriculture Research: CDC facilitated different community organization (WO, Cos, VOs, FSC, CCBs) provided trainings in jam jelly, Kitchen Gardening and Bee keeping to make them capable to earn their livelihood in collaboration with Agriculture Research. CDC also facilitated to make a link the female trainees of the vocational centers regarding know how in jam jelly, kitchen gardening also.

  11. Approach/Methodology Livelihood Skill Training • CDC is a community based organization. And its approach is proved and tested model of participatory philosophy of development through vibrant & effective partnership between all the developmental actors in an organized methodology, to substantiate and coordinate all these at community at level, being the major development actor in the process. The CDC mobilizes communities to get themselves organized at grass root level into self managed and sustainable organization capable of undertaking all the developmental initiatives through managing natural, human and financial resources in dynamic and holistic manner.

  12. CDC will conduct consultative meetings with relevant stakeholders (Government, RAHA Project) to introduce livelihood training programs for effective implementation of the project objectives. It will be mobilizing their resources for the initiation of RAHA livelihood training programs. The organization will finalize the trainees for different trades and locations and suitable venue with consultation of RAHA field staff. • the partnership is to support the communities’ initiatives in poverty reduction, making their voices and representation effective and actual particularly of the ignored and vulnerable section of the population through their participation in planning, decision and need identification to implementation of any activity. • CDC is basically a technical, facilitating and organizational support institution, providing services to the communities.

  13. in the District to keep up a strong coordination and linkages with the Police Department, Judiciary, and Social welfare Department and enabling environment to create awareness regarding rights especially in the devolved structure particularly District Government. • The campaign purpose is to consign letters regarding Human Rights advocacy, to elected people Nazims, NaibNazim, Councilors, women’s, kisan and labor councilors to make them sensitize. • CDC believe and provide its service and expertise to the Government for facilitation, Coordination and assistance to make all these possible and to help in implementation with the help of Government effectively particularly in the frame work of the Devolution Plan (Police order 2002, access to justice etc) to reflect the

  14. Institutional Capacity • CDC has a pool of expertise in different fields (Education, Health, NRM, Engineering, Rights, Management, Governance, Training, and Research & Reporting). The CDC Team comprised on social scientist, educationist, Rural development expert, Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Gender specialist, Environmental experts. CDC provided their expertise to the Govt and to the Donors for development their strategic planning, designing and implementation. CDC utilizes their expertise for the enhancing the Civil Society Organization and stream lining the Govt institutions and bridge up the community and line department in the developmental process through effective communication.

Capacity Building • The CDC established a resource center with the collaboration of Community Development Department for the Capacity building & strengthens of NGO/ CSO/CCBs. • Training center provided the following facilities/ services   • Technical assistant to line Department • Training Need Assessment ( TNA) • Training to NGO/ CSO/CCBs • To assist the CCB in development of project proposals. • To share the information progress and experience • To highlight the issues regarding the CCB,s • To provide the platform to local CCBs on District level. • To strengthen the capacity of the CSO,s • To extend the linkages of CSO/ CCBs with line Department and Donors. • Training materials development • TOT • Capacity building & training of PTC,s

  19. Organization Chairperson • The Chairperson of the organization is an experienced development professional with outstanding, knowledge, expertise of national and international. Executive Body • Executive body comprises of 09 members. EB is elected by General body for the duration of three years EB met monthly In the monthly meeting progress review & work plan are shared among the shared with the members In the supervision & guidance all projects/program are implemented The EB is accountable to General Body Advisory Board • Advisory Board comprises of 11 members The AB Members are nominated by EB for the term of 3 Years AD is advisory body & provides the guide line & technical support for smooth running the program activities The AD meet quarterly AD is a guiding body to put the organization on right track   General Body • GB meets annually. It comprises all the CDC members who include patron, life members, donor members, ordinary members & all the executive Body members GB is a policy maker body which provides guideline to the organization. Income & expenditure report & annual work plan are presented to the GB for approval GB nominates auditor for internal audit • It is the supreme body of the organization all the decisions are taken subject to the approval of this body
