  2. Engine testing(Kapila, Sidong, Mark and Nick) • Frequency corrected @ 83.9 hrs • 83.9 hrs to 148.2 hrs : 30 kW (60% of Full Load, ULSD) • Total 64 hrs (as of 02/05/2008) • 176 hrs of testing remaining ( 4.4 weeks) • Load bank circuit breaker tripped ( Ran engine ~ one hour without load) • Need in-lab monitoring system (PC Anywhere, E-mail alert system) • Data averaging software installed • Smoke meter • No smoke density / smoke opacity data • Need another shutter in light source side • Remove EGT TC and mount in a different place • Exhaust gas purge lines

  3. Lubricant oil Analysis : • Viscosity- ASTM D 445, 40 C and 100 C • Total base number - D 4739. • Total acid number by ASTM D 664 • Oil Dilution – D 3524 • Pentane Insolubles (%P)- ASTM D 893 • Free Metal analysis- ASTM D 5185 (ICP)

  4. Standard Practice for Condition Monitoring of Used Lubricants by Trend Analysis Using FTIR Spectrometry ASTM E 2412-04 • Carbonylcomponents 1675 -1800 cm-1 • Water in crank case oil3500 -3150 cm-1 • Nitrate components1600 -1650 cm-1 • Antiware components (ZDDP)960 -1025 cm-1 • Gasoline (ZDDP)744 -755 cm-1 • Diesel (JP-5, JP-8)805 -815 cm-1 • EG Coolant 1030 -1100 cm-1 • Soot Loading Absorbance intensity at 2000 cm-1
