  1. How is a CarFit Check-Up Done? • Uses a trained team of volunteers & health professionals such as occupational therapists (OT) to work with senior driver participants. • Appointments are pre-arranged by participants and designed to take no longer than 15 minutes to assess the “fit” between the vehicle and the driver. This is followed by a 5 minute “Check-Out” by an OT. • Red Flag issues are brought to the attention of the OT for review. If no Red Flag issues are noted, the participant is given information and a copy of the Checklist.

  2. Why CarFit? • By 2030, one of five drivers will be age 65 or older. • Ill-fitting vehicles can make it uncomfortable and unsafe to drive. • Things change as we grow older. We need to adapt to these changes. • CarFitcan help you fit your vehicle better.

  3. What is CarFit? • A low-risk opportunity to open a dialogue with a senior motorist about safety issues for the aging driver. • Offers the opportunity for drivers to see how well their car “fits” them. • Offers information and materials for resources to keep drivers driving safer longer. • It is not a program to take drivers off the road.

  4. Who is CarFit? • A collaboration of AAA, AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). • Includes Event Corodinators and Technicians across the country.
