  2. Local Science Assessment Features • Based on local and state SBI’s • Performance-based. • Integrates instruction with assessment.

  3. Local Science Assessment Features • Administered twice per year. Fall is formative and spring is summative. • Data due Dec 16th and April 15th. • Elementary once per year.

  4. Teacher Support Data Collected • 1 – Highly supported by the teacher. Much prompting and feedback. • 3 – Moderately supported by the teacher. Some feedback. • 5 – Independent student work.

  5. Cooperative Approach Data Collected • 1 Whole class. • 3 Small team. • 5 Individualized

  6. Individual Accountability • Students write individual research reports. • Written at school. • Not written in teams.

  7. 6-Part Evaluation Rubric • Research Question / Hypothesis • Review of Literature • Experimental Procedure • Results / Data • Analysis • Conclusions / Further Research

  11. Student Work Samples • Five samples sent in at each assessment completion time. • Samples are used at in-services to calibrate scoring and to design instructional improvement.

  12. Future Plans • Supporting lessons for each content prompt in the CAI library. • On-line entry and publishing of student work. • On-line scoring system.
