  3. Why Family Connection??? • High percentage of youth return home • Youth with increased support report decreased problem behaviors • Families and community remain in the youth’s life longer than service providers • Familial and social connection are key protective factors

  4. Connection vs Reunification Family should be defined more broadly to included the complete social network

  5. Goals and Objectives • To increase client’s social capital and natural supports • Serve 50 youth • 75% exit positively from shelter • 100% improve in functioning • Family functioning, reduction in substance use/criminal justice, involvement in education/employment • 75% retention rate

  7. Outcomes & Success • Program begin July 2018 • 30 clients served • 83% success rate • Positive shelter exit • Increase in functioning
