  2. The XXII Winter Olympicstook place in February 2014 in Russia. There were 2873 athletes from 88 countries in Sochi. I would like to tell about the champions of the Olympic Games.

  3. Name: Darya Domracheva Date of birth: August 3, 1986 Place of birth: Minsk, Belarussia Activities: Belarusian biathlete Darya has been competing in the Biathlon World Cup since 2006. She won three gold medals in the pursuit, individual, and mass start competitions at the 2014 Winter Olympics. After winning her third gold medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, she was named 'Hero of Belarus' which is the country's highest honour.

Name: Julia LipnitskayaDate of birth: 05 June 1998Place of birth: YekaterinburgActivities: Russian figure skater, Olympic champion of the Sochi-2014, a member of the Russian national team at the Olympics in Sochi Julia Lipnitskaya is the youngest Russian athlete to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics. She took up the sport at age four in Yekaterinburg. She was interested in both gymnastics and figure skating as a child, and began to skate because her mother took her to a rink.

Name:Emil HegleSvendsen Date of birth: 12 July 1985 Place of birth: Norway Activities:  Norwegian biathlete 11-times world champion did not let any misses on the shooting range and showed the best time - 42 minutes, 29.1 seconds. Emil says: "I always tried different sports when I was younger and biathlon was one of the things that I tried. The first time I shot clean I thought 'wow that was fun' and I wanted to start racing.“

Name: Martin Fourcade Date of birth: September 14, 1988 Place of birth: France Activities:  French biathlete Fourcade is a five-time World Champion, twice an Olympic champion and thrice winner of the Overall World Cup. Martin won gold in pursuit and in the individual 20km race in Sochi. He took up biathlon at age ten. He tried numerous sports including ice hockey, judo, swimming, athletics and mountain biking, before taking up Nordic skiing and then biathlon after his brother Simon started. He says: "I wanted to be like my older brother." 

  7. Name: Olga Graf Date of birth: 15 July 1983 Place of birth: Omsk, Russia Activities: Russian speed skater. At the 2014 Sochi Olympics Olga won a bronze medal at the 3000 metres event and a bronze medal in the women's team pursuit. She began speed skating in 1995 when her martial arts instructor suggested that she try it. She attended the Siberian State University of Physical Education and Sport.  In 2007 she joined the Russian National Speed Skating Team.

  8. I have told you only about some heroes of the Winter Olympic Games. All of these people are not just sportsmen but also the model of determination and success. I admire their results and would like to follow their example of self-development and hard work.
