  4. It is now week 4 – Semester 1 • How do we complete this course? • VISION material – how are you using it? • Work based learning – tutorial exercises • Exam preparation • Attendance is key

  5. Activity Identify relevant UK law that controls the following construction operations: • Main piece of law • Personal protective equipment • Hazardous substances • Demolition work involves asbestos • Manual handling • Lifting operations and lifting equipment

  6. Activity • Detail the impact of the assigned piece of health and safety legislation to your group on the performance of construction projects. You are supposed to display (write down) your findings on the white board. • Your report should include the following: • Method: Work in groups • Brief overview of the assigned legislation (its main requirements, enforcement of legislation, prosecution for offences etc.) • How it affects health and safety performance through above facts • How it affects financial performance of project (profitability)? • How it affects time performance and productivity of project? • How it affects quality performance of projects? • How it affects environmental targets of projects? • How it affects recruitment and retention?
