Collection of Mails from Letter Box • Outside LBs are cleared by LB peon or LB attendants. • Office LBs are cleared by Group D (now called Multi tasking Group C) working as packers. • All LBs are cleared as per the schedule given in LB statement of the Office. • Mails are brought to the office, & faced. • Taxed if insufficiently paid or unpaid. • Error noted if required. • Postage stamps are defaced

  5. Collection at counter • Unregistered parcel to be presented at counter only • Articles with high value stamps can be presented at counter to get the stamps defaced • Articles with service stamps • Bulky articles

  6. Collection of Bulk articles • Franked articles & Registered newspaper are collected at counter only • Other corporate bulk mails are received in PIN code wise bundles from the customers either at the counter , or in the BD branch or directly in the Sorting branch.

Recall of articles • Sender of the article has the following options • Delivered back to him/her • Alter or correct the address • Article can be recalled if • It has not been delivered to addressee • It has not been destroyed or seized in the country of destination • Fee for recall of articles • Rs. 6/- per article for inland • Rs. 30/- per article for foreign letter post items • Rs. 30/- per article for foreign parcel items

  12. Recall procedure • The sender makes an application with prescribed fee • If the article has not left the office, the Postmaster delivers the article to sender on satisfying the identity • If correction in address is required, the same is done • If the article has left the office, Postmaster addresses office of delivery not to deliver to addressee and to return the article
