  2. Summary Young Arachne was known for her weaving skills throughout the country Lydia and neighbour countries. Arachne arrogantly denied that she was taught by the grey-eyed arts and craft goddess, Athena, and she absurdly challenge her. Athena transferred to a white-haired old lady wishing to solve peacefully, she try to persuade Arachne to apologize for her rudeness.

  3. Summary Regardless, Arachne ignored the kind advice and decide to keep going with the hard way. Athena had to show her real form and grant her wish. As fearless as Arachne acts, she cannot fool Athena. The two sets up the materials for the competition, Athena keeps warning Arachne by decorating her tapestry with punishment. While Arachne drew the scenes of Zeus with multiple affairs.

  4. Summary • Instead of letting Arachne hang herself, Athena decide she’ll mercy her by letting her live as a spider and weave for eternity. Athena’s action makes Arachne realize her wrong doings, Arachne feel being defeated and despaired, her dignity does not make her live anymore.

  5. Connections to today Society nowadays thinks much like Arachne did. We believe that we are better than everyone else (ex: stronger, faster, smarter). We don't take the time to appreciate the gifts that have been bestowed upon us and often take them for granted. Arachne had boasted about her talents and had challenged Athena but was punished for her actions. This is most likely the effect of boasting.   6. Purpose Arrogance leads to nothing but an eternity of unhappiness. As a mortal, degrading a deity (of ancient Greece) will only have punishment following behind oneself. One can boast as much as one would like but there is a limit to what can be said and done. There should be respect for those who are more superior.
