Evenworse, over90% of offendersaresomeonethechild knows andtrusts.To combatthis epidemic, Maryland-based non-profitRaceAgainstAbuseof Children Everywhere(RAACE) has launchedanewwebsitethatprovides awealth of informationand educationalmaterialsto helpfamilies protectchildrenagainsttheoften-silentepidemicof childsexualabuse. RAACE, a501(c)(3) non-profitorganization, has beenworkingfor morethan10 years to helpeducate families aboutthedangersof childsexualabuseand whattheycando to preventthevictimizationoftheirchildren.Thenew websiteprovides families withquick, easyaccess to awiderangeof free,age-appropriateeducationalmaterials, including theorganization’s in-depth Power of PreventionGuide Book. According toRAACEfounder,Kenneth Smith,“Educationand awareness arethefirstcriticalstepstoward preventing child sexualabuse. Our new siteis agreatresourcethatanyonecan usetolearn howto preventchildsexualabuse,whatsigns tolook for if yoususpectyourchildis being abused, andwhateachof us cando to shinealighton theepidemicof abuseand helpend it.” In addition to alltheeducation materials available, thenew sitealso offers waysto connectwith otherRAACEsupporters, includingaspecialcommunitysitewherepeoplecanask questions, shareexperiences, and takepartin forums focused on topics related tochild sexualabuseprevention andtheissues thatabusesurvivors mayface.Thesitealso makes iteasyto findRAACEevents thatarepartoftheorganization’s PreventionTour.
