  4. 2. 10+ years of college/ university teaching experience

  5. 3. 6+ years of supervising student teachers

  6. Trained as a NCATE/NASPE reviewer (Spring 2006)Aligned SFA’s Student Teacher’s Eval form to NASPE Standards

  7. I Have taught Graduate courses at all the university/ colleges that I have been at except at current position Lane College (which has no graduate programs)-Grad Tech Class in KIN

  8. 6. I have won teaching excellence awards in the past.

  9. 7. Throughout my Higher Ed teaching career I have encouraged ALL my teacher candidates to meet the needs of ALL the diverse students/ individuals that they will impact throughout their teaching careers.

  12. 9. 10+ years of teaching Adapted PE courses which includes 6+ years of APE state certification courses with a university/community based APE lab component.

  14. 1. Update the Department’s NCATE/NASPE documentNASPE reviewer (Spring 2006)

  15. 2. Create a PETE Student Teacher Handbook

  16. 3. Infuse technology throughout the department’s curriculum and student teaching program

  17. 4. Active research interest in attitudinal changes in pre-service teacher candidates from Intro PE course to the Dept’s Capstone Course

  18. Example: Duchane, K. A., & French, R. (1998).  Attitudes and grading practices of secondary physical educators in regular education settings.  Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly, 15(4), 370-380

  19. The results of the majority of this type of research indicates that the attitude toward students with mental retardation and emotional disturbances was less favorable than teaching students with learning disabilities.

  20. The problem with these results are that the schools and society are moving toward an integrated/ inclusive model . . .

  21. Teacher education programs need to drastically change the attitudes and training of our pre-service teacher candidates to meet the needs of ALL the diverse students that will interact with during their teaching careers.

  22. PEATID-IIIPhysical Educators' Attitude Toward Teaching Individuals with Disabilities-III(Rizzo, 1993)

  23. PEATID-IIIThis survey contains a series of statements which express beliefs about teaching individuals with disabilities in your regular physical education classes.

  24. PEATID-IIII’m currently in the process of modifying this survey:1- the variables (add Urban and Rural settings, and Race2- Language (MS definitions)3- Content (PE scenarios)

  25. 5. Create an on-campus & community-based elementary PE & disabled lab component for the Physical Education courses.

  26. 6. Become involved at the BOD level of NMAHPERD similar to the positions I held in Louisiana & Wisconsin
