  3. Brainstorm • Individually, list as many possible end products you can think of as a culmination of your unit. • Keep in mind that you may offer students the option of designing their own final product • With your partner, share your list • Pare down each list to 3-4 options

  4. Template • Real World Problem/Inquiry Question • What is the culminating project/product? • What are possible inquiry questions students may generate to guide their own learning? • Student Learning Outcomes • “I Can” statements • What will students know and be able to do at the end of this instructional unit?

  5. Template • D: Key Areas of Focus • Select texts to support your instruction • Develop key questions to guide discussion—all levels of Blooms • Small group/individual/large group • Writing Sources • Most products will include some sort of writing • Include information about the type(s) of writing students will do throughout the unit

  6. Template • Identify key vocabulary that students will need to learn • Determine what process you will use to teach this vocabulary • E: Instructional Supports • Critical component: Supporting reading complex texts

  7. Assessment • Resources on Wiki, Day 3 • Identify “benchmark areas” • Big Ideas that you need to ensure students know/understand before moving on • Identify appropriate assessments for these
