  2. China's geography is extremely diverse. It is a large country. It is slightly smaller than the United States. China covers about 9.5million square kilometers. China is the 4th largest in the world (after Russia, Canada, and the USA). China is very old. The highest point in China is Mount Everest (8,850 m tall), in the Himalayas. Geography

  3. China's Geography and landscape is extremely mixed, with a wide range of weather and climate as well.

  4. The Tibetan Plateau is the world's largest and highest plateau. It leads to the Himalaya mountains, including Mount Everest, the highest at 29,029 ft above sea level. The Tibetan Plateauis also known as the "Roof of the World”. Because of the high altitudes and harsh cold temperatures in the winter that can drop to negative 40 degrees, these areas are some of the least populated in the world.

  5. Flowing out of the Tibetan Plateau are two of China's longest rivers, the Yangtze and the Yellow River. They cut across China as they continue towards the coast. The Yangtze River is the longest in China and third in the world after the Nile and the Amazon. It produces the most hydroelectricity in the world.

  6. What Borders China? To the East along the coast it borders Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea. Land neighbors include fourteen different countries. These are China's fourteen bordering countries:

  7. Government The type of Government they have is Communist. The current President of China is Xi Jinping. In China they are only allowed to have one child.

  8. The Chinese Flag The red background symbolizes the revolution and the blood of those who died during the civil war and the Japanese invasion. On the upper left corner there are five yellow stars: One large and four smaller ones. The large yellow star represents the Communist Party leadership. The four smaller stars represent the four classes of society.

  9. Economy More than half the Chinese people live in rural areas. Most work as farmers. Farmland is owned by the government and is rented to farmers.

Economy of China Major Industries: mining iron, steel, aluminum, and other metals; Products such as footwear, toys, and electronics; Transportation equipment including automobiles, trains, ships, and aircraft. Farming products: rice, wheat, potatoes, corn, peanuts, apples, cotton, pork and fish. Currency :yuan

  11. History • China is one of the four oldest civilizations in the world. It has one of the longest recorded histories of any country, stretching back over 4,000 years. China’s history is divided into 19 Dynasty. • In that long history, the Chinese people invented papermaking, printing, and irrigation systems. The compass, explosive powder, and fireworks are also Chinese inventions. • The Great Wall was built over 2,000 years ago and stretches for an amazing 994 miles.

  13. Culture • The biggest holiday in China is Chinese New Year. • Chinese people love rice. • Religion: The main religions are Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, and China’s Taoism. • Language: Chinese is the most widely spoken language in the world.

  14. Life in China: A Day at the Local Market People in China go to the Local Market. Of course you find supermarkets and department stores in the cities, even Walmart. But not far from them, you will always find the local market or shopping alleys.

  15. Fun Facts The Last Emperor of China, Puyi, became ruler when he was only 3 years old. The Chinese have used chopsticks to eat for over 4,000 years. After inventing the printing press, the most popular type of booklet was Buddhist sayings and prayers. In China the dragon is a symbol of good luck, power, and strength. The dragon was often the symbol of the Emperor. The Great Wall of China is the largest manmade structure. The color red is considered a lucky color in China.
