  5. EGO - First Person Singular Pronoun “I”. Jesus referring to Himself as the subject of the verse.

  6. EIMI - Present, Active, Indicative, 1st Singular,“To be or exist”

  7. “I am” is stating the case of who Jesus is at the present time as a statement of fact.He is (always has been and continues to be) God.

  8. This was the great insignia that God gave to Himself as a memorial name for all generations.Ex 3:13-15

  9. “I AM” is the Hebrew verb HAYAH which means “to be, to exist”. Literally, “I was, I am, I always will be!”

  10. There are eleven “I AM” statements found in the Gospel of John.

  11. *1) John 6:35, (See also verses 41, 48, 51).

  18. 4) John 8:58, He is noting His eternal existence as God. The man Jesus, was not before Abraham, yet His Deity was; He has always existed.

  20. *5) John 10:9, Jesus is the only means of our salvation. The only entrance into eternal life is through Christ Jesus.
