  10. 2017 Assessment

  11. Our Approach Developed PSAP Readiness Continuum Survey • Governance • Operations • Technology • Human Resource Management • Interworking Policies • Motivation Survey sent to 88 PSAPs • 32 completed surveys received

  12. Our Approach Conducted interviews with 8 PSAP’s City of Chandler Police Department City of Tempe Police Department Flagstaff Police Department Gila County Sheriff’s Office Hualapai Tribe Department of Emergency Services Maricopa Region 911 Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Tucson Fire Department

  13. Findings • Different levels of FirstNet awareness and interest • Majority of agencies reported and assessed in the minimal to limited readiness range In all areas discussed • Some early adopters at full readiness in areas of governance, agency authority and stakeholder communications • The primary wireless carrier used for mobile data is Verizon • Several participants reported issues with AT&T coverage • Three constraints were identified that affect some or all of the PSAPs where interviews were conducted: • Delay in developing interfaces between FirstNet, NG911 and technologies used in the PSAP • Workforce requirements levels and the impact of introducing new technology • Funding priorities and lack of funding

  14. PSAP FirstNet Planning Continue to engage PSAP mangers and technical staff during the deployment of FirstNet and convene a technical working group to develop plans for integration with FirstNet. Determine essential steps to integration of FirstNet with PSAPs in conjunction with NG911 to provide basic wireless data services, interoperability with existing LMR voice radio system, and interoperability of PTT on LTE with other public safety entities. Develop a plan that details the necessary steps that are required to integrate a multimedia content system the purpose of which is to capture, route, display, and archive images, text and video content and to integrate with the CAD system to affiliate content with an incident record. What’s next…

  15. In short… • Examine current technology such as: • CAD • Starting outreach to CAD vendors • CPE • ESINet • Talk with AT&T about PSAP connectivity • Conversations have begun • Develop a high level planning document for PSAP integration with NPSBN

  16. What Will 5G Mean? Significantly higher speeds Significantly lower latency Eliminate need for wi-fi All in all, a game changer https://9to5mac.com/2018/12/09/5g-explained This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA
