  2. WHAT ARE COMETS MADE OF ??? • Comets are made mostly of ice (water ice, as well as carbon dioxide, or "dry" ice, and several other types), and rock , they are often called a dirty snowball!

  4. Did you know a comets tail is always facing away from the sun! • This happens because the solar winds blow the tail back!

  5. There are two different types of comets! Short period Long period These orbit the sun every 200 or more • Under 200 years

  6. One of the most famous comets is Halley's comet • Astronomers believe that this well known object has been noticed since 240 B. C. and made its most famous appearance in 1066 A. D.
