  1. Let’s Jazz and Combine!! How to create more descriptive and memorable sentences while increasing your sentence variation. More adjectives and compound/complex sentences.

  2. For example: Sentence: She went to work. She did not want to go. Step 1: Combine the sentences into a compound or complex sentence. You can add words. Even though she did not want to go, she went to work. Step 2: Jazz it up with adjectives and vivid verbs! You cannot use the verbs already in the sentence. Even though she detested dragging her tired and weary self through the rain and cold to work, she arduously forced herself into her car coughing and sneezing and made the tedious drive to work.  How does the final sentence differ from the original sentence at the top?

  3. Your Turn: Sentence: My cat was hungry. She had not eaten since breakfast. Step 1: Combine the two sentences into a compound OR complex sentence. Step 2: Jazz it up! Best sentence gets a free lunch seat pass!

  4. Your Turn: Sentence: They made plans to go. They ended up not being able to make it. Step 1: Combine the two sentences into a compound OR complex sentence. Step 2: Jazz it up! Best sentence gets a free lunch seat pass!
