  1. So I have an idea, now what? Autobiography Guidelines • A Beginning – Introduce your Character • A Middle - Write about some highlights of the “person's” life. How did this “person” influence others? What were the beliefs this “person” had? Tell a story from one part of their life. • An Ending –Wrap up the story that you are telling and leave us wanting more… you can leave us with a “cliff-hanger.”

  2. Student Example Greetings. My name is King Tooki-Tooki. I am the King of the wonderful world of Birdville. I live in the Isle of Wing in a little nest by my two friends, Frank the flying squirrel and Prince Parrot, heir to the throne of Birdville. They serve as my companions, for I have no family. For those of you from colder areas like Feather Island who don’t know what a toucan looks like, I will do my best to describe us to you. We have black feathers, colossal yellow beaks, and tiny orange feet. But enough about trivial topics like the present. I’m here to talk about my past.

  3. I was born on a cold, windy December night on Osprey Pole. When I hatched I discovered that my nest had been abandoned. I got picked up by a gust of wind and got plopped into the Tweet Sea. I was near freezing when a couple of penguins plucked me out of the water. I’ve never liked water since! I lived with the penguins until I was old enough to fly to the Isle of Wing by myself and build a nest. It was a long, hard journey, but it was surprisingly warm when I got there. Needless to say, I grew to appreciate the weather in my new home. I also grew to very much dislike cold and water.

  4. When I was about 10 seasons old, I fell out of an acacia tree and broke both my legs and one wing. It took me three seasons to recover and I concluded from that little incident that I’m not very good at climbing trees.

  5. Later, I served the King, Colonel Canary, in the postal service. I was fired very quickly when I forgot to stop at the King’s nest to deliver an extremely urgent letter. Seasons later, I got a summons from Colonel Canary and rushed over to his nest as fast as my tiny wings could carry me. When I got there, the colonel crowned me King! Me! The poor toucan he had fired so many long seasons ago. I sometimes wonder if he forgot about that when he gave me the extreme honor and responsibility, but I have never doubted his fine choice in an equally fine King. I ruled well and wisely till the end of my days – that is, until Birdville was struck by the most destructive storm to ever hit its lands! But that, my fine birds, is a different story…
