  4. ExpressPod Solution Summary • ExpressPod is a joint infrastructure solution from Cisco and NetApp that simplifies deployment of server, storage, and network resources and provides customers with an easy and affordable implementation. ExpressPod is designed for environments with less than 500 users and limited IT staff to help customers reduce complexity and gain efficiency. • Start well with a low-cost, easy-to-deploy virtualization solution • Keep it simple with built-in system efficiencies of Cisco UCS® servers, Cisco Nexus® switching, and NetApp FAS2200 Series storage • Offer investment protection as environments grow, providing easy infrastructure scaling to keep up with business demands • Cooperative support model from NetApp and Cisco can accelerate problem resolution and reduce risk

  8. Background Information on Cisco Smart Plays • The Cisco UCS® C-Series and Nexus® 3048 bundle used for ExpressPod configurations is a Cisco® Smart Play • Cisco Smart Plays offer the following benefits: • They are configured and can be ordered directly from Cisco or distribution • Ordering individual SKUs typically results in greater expense; customers save in ordering the bundle SKU • Smart Plays offer the best upfront price with bundle discounts included in the Cisco Global Price List (GPL) • Smart Play bundles do not qualify for Opportunity or Value Incentive Program incentives. Expansion Packs do qualify. • Additional discounts are available for new Cisco UCS account wins* • For ExpressPod, the Smart Play bundle will be available for a year * Some restrictions apply

  9. VMware Considerations and Opportunities • Cisco does not recommend that VMware SKUs be fulfilled through its ordering system • VMware SKUs are not stocked in distribution • Gives DMR the opportunity to add value by integrating the vSphere software stack • Regarding VMware Licensing: • Implementation guide written against Enterprise Plus license, but ExpressPod Solution can be sourced with any of the various vSphere 5 offerings (e.g. Essentials, Essentials Plus, Standard, Enterprise, etc.)
