Once a Roman Settlement - Pincum on the border of the Roman empire, this small town offers a good starting point for cultural tourism and an insides of the turbulent history on the Balkans. What to see around Veliko Gradište: Archeological site Viminacium In Viminacium near Požarevac you can see the impressive paintings in the Roman tombs, the baths and other open-air sites, and even participate in a dig.

Golubac The soaring towers of the Golubac Fortress on the narrow Danube banks, with their arrow slits and walls, form a picturesque view and the entrance to the more then 100 km long Danube gorge. The Fortress has been reconstructed in 2018 and offers also a Visitor Center as well as an on-site dock for cruising ships. Did you know? That the Danube is the widest near the fortress of Golubac? It reaches almost 7 km.

The Fortress has been reconstructed in 2018 and offers also a Visitor Center as well as an on-site dock for cruising ships. What to see around Golubac: Danube gorge - Iron Gate Millions years ago, the river cut a path through high, sheer cliffs of the Carpathians. Today the stream is tamed, but this 100km stretch still flows through one of the most spectacular Danube landscapes.

Here the river flows through two canyons and three gorges, in which the narrowest point is only 150m wide, with 200m to 500m high cliffs towering above the river’s surface. Did you know? That Donji Milanovac was originally built on the river island Poreč, during the 17th century. In 1830, due to frequent flooding, Serbian ruler Prince Miloš ordered the town to be moved to somewhat higher right Danube bank?

What to see around Donji Milanovac: Archeological site Felix Romuliana (UNESCO) Felix Romulina is part of the cultural “Roman Emperors’ Route” stretching along the Danube to the city Niš. 16 out of 52 Roman emperors were born on the territory of today`s Serbia.

What to see around Donji Milanovac: Tabula Traiana Towering above the surface of the river is the Tabula Traiana,103 AD evidencing that the Roman emperor Trajan had successfully built a bridge over the once daunting gorge.
