Then Huzoor discussed Surah al-Kahf. He explained how the youth, who were called the ‘the people of the Cave’’ remained oppressed for 300 years and yet protected the true teachings of Christianity i.e. the Oneness of God. He said that the youth of today should work even harder because they have Holy Prophet(saw) as their role model. Then he explained ‘true belief’ and the qualities of a true believer then he mentioned the sacrifices of Khuddam in Pakistan and some other countries and urged the Khuddam here to understand their responsibilities. The Importance and reasons of fasting Fasting, which is done in the month of Ramadan, is the third pillar of Islam therefore another form of worship found not only in Islam but also universally in the world religions. The true purpose of Ramadan, as of all forms of Islamic worship is to draw people closer to Allah and emphasis on moral and spiritual values. To keep the hearing, the sight, the tongue, the mind all under strict control. For instance, not only vain talk, but much talk is also eschewed, so that there should be greater concentration on remembrance of Allah and reflection upon His attributes. The Holy Prophet said: `He who abstains from food and drink during the period of the fast but does not restrain himself from uttering a falsehood starves himself to no purpose.' It is related of him that during Ramadhan, his own concern for and care of the poor, the needy, the sick and the orphan was intensified manifold, and that his charity knew no limit. Also there is another important reason of fasting is to learn from our own personal experience what hunger, poverty, loneliness and discomforts mean to the less fortunate sections of society.
