  2. Small Cities Program • $8 M Annual Allocation • No individual project funding limits • 80% Participation for Construction & Construction Admin costs • Funds may be used for any roadway or safety project on the federal aid system

  3. Small Cities Program Eligibility Criteria • Federal funding to Small Cities with populations between 5,000 to 25,000. • Must be outside of an MPO. • Currently 54 eligible cities

Small Cities Program • Applications solicited annually, Jan 1st – March 1st submit online • Proposed projects are scored, and selections are made based on cumulative score and District recommendations. • ADT • PCR • Crash Data • Selections finalized and announced in June • 2014 • 21 applications received requesting $32.7m • Awarded funding to 5 applicants $8m

  6. Announcement Process • Small City Program • Notification sent out to all Districts, they contact the eligible LPA’s in their district • Announcement placed on the OLP website • Program guidelines • List of eligible cities • Link to the on-line application

  7. Municipal Bridge Program • $8 M Annual Allocation • Federal funding to municipalities for eligible on and off-system bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects • 80% Participation for Construction & Construction Admin costs • $2.5m individual project funding limit

  8. Municipal Bridge Program Eligibility Criteria • Open to vehicular traffic • Meet the federal definition of a bridge • 1258 bridges eligible last round (on and off system)

Municipal Bridge Program • Applications solicited annually, Jan 1st – March 1st submit online • Proposed projects are scored, and selections are made based on cumulative score and District recommendations. • ADT • General Appraisal & Sufficiency Rating • Economic Health • Selections finalized and announced in June • 2014 • 16 applications received requesting $21.5m • Awarded funding to 8 applicants $11.3m

Local Major Bridge Program • Federal funding to local governments for the rehabilitation or replacement of eligible Local Major Bridges • 80% Participation for Design, ROW, Construction & Construction Admin • $25m Annual Allocation – No individual project funding limits • Applications solicited annually in mid-July. Awards in late fall.

  13. Local Major Bridge Program Eligibility Criteria • >35,000 sq. ft. deck area or movable / lift structure • Currently 56 eligible bridges

  14. Announcement Process • Local Major Bridge Program • Notification sent out to all District LPA Managers • Announcement placed on the OLP website with list of target bridges, guidelines and link to the on-line application • Phone call to eligible LPA to inquire as to their intentions

  18. Possible Future Enhancements • Give all applicants the opportunity to present their project • Allow 15 minutes • Can conference call in from nearest District office • Make some data field “required”
