  2. “How to Play a DPD Interview” Outline PLACE THE DVD INTO THE DVD DRIVE OF YOUR NOTEBOOK OR DESKTOP COMPUTER You must have a drive that reads DVDs. It will say “DVD Rom” on the drive if you have one. Most of the office’s desktop computers do not have one. The notebooks do have them. These type of DVDs will only work in a computer. There is a “How to Video” as well.   8. ZOOMED VIEW If multiple files appear then DPD gave you two camera angles. In this example, you’ll see how it says Room 3.1 and Room 3.2 I have found the second one (.2) to be the better angle. I think .1 is usually an overhead. 8

  10. Switching Between Files • I have found that you cannot switch between the camera angles by double clicking a new file. • You have to close the first one. See how next page. 10

  11. To close a file that is playing click the garbage can. This does not delete the file. 11

  12. Internet Explorer/Pop Up Blockers • The software that DPD uses is designed to run with your Internet Explorer software. This does not mean you have to be connected to the Internet to use it. • These type of “browser” programs are fairly common. • Caveat: Sometimes if you have a pop up blocker running it will not open the program properly. See the next few slides for how to deal with it. 12

  13. When I try to open this “browser” software at home I get this error message. “To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts for ActiveX controls that access your computer. Click here for options.” 13

  14. Click on that message and then select “Allowed Blocked Content.” This gives your computer permission one time to run this software. Just do this every time you open the program. I have not run into this error message at work. 14

ADVANCED USER INSRUCTIONS After making this instructional video and outline, I have found that it is also possible to run the DPD video if you copy the whole folder to your laptop and run it from there as opposed to trying to run it from the DVD itself. You can run it either way. If you choose to copy it to your computer first then you need to follow these steps to “open” the program. Copy the whole folder to your laptop. You folder should contain all the files listed below. There may be a different amount of G64 files depending oh how many interviews on your disk. Double-click the MediaCenter.HTM file to begin. This will open the program and allow you to navigate to your needed files. Watch the “how to” video for the rest of the steps. Some of the steps may be slightly different based on your individual computer, but you will get the gist of it. 15
