  1. Setting Up Your CPS Receiver and Student Responders

  2. The Hardware - Pulse Each Pulse RF (radio frequency) receiver can support up to 1000 student responders. The Pulse RF student responders do not have to be pointed toward the screen, board, or room front. The batteries ( 2 - AA) last for approx. 360 hours.

  3. Connecting the Pulse Receiver The Pulse USB Hub Receiver plugs into a USB plug on your computer. CPS will automatically “detect” the receiver. Smart Tip:ALWAYS CONNECT THE RECEIVER BEFORE STARTING THE CPS PROGRAM.

  5. What Channel Am I On? Pulse Receiver To check or change the receiver channel on the Pulse receiver, click on the eInstruction icon in the bottom tool bar. When the eInstruction window opens, click on “Device Manager”.

  6. What Channel Am I On? Pulse Receiver When the Device Manager opens, first click on the device you want to check. Then, click on “Options”, Finally, select “Properties” in the next window.

  7. What Channel Am I On? Pulse Receiver When the “Properties” window opens, you can enter a new channel. Then, click OK. Smart Tip: NEARBY ROOMS SHOULD BE ON SEPARATE CHANNELS TO AVOID DATA CROSS-OVER.

  8. Changing the Channel on the Student Responder Simultaneously, press and release BOTH arrow keys. Quickly, press the “+-” button. When the “Channel” prompt appears, enter the 2 digit channel (Ex. 01) Press the button 3 times. To change the channel on the student responders, make sure the responder is turned ON…then…

  9. Turning on the Student Responder Press the “POWER” button at the bottom to turn the responder on. When powered on, the screen at the top will activate, showing the responder number and several icons.

What the Student Responder Keys Do Left/Right Navigation – moves cursor right or left Back Space – erases a letter, number, or word Alpha/Numeric/SMS Entry - cycle to the text entry mode you need to enter your answer, letters, numbers, or text Plus/Minus – for positive/negative math entries Switch Text Entry Mode - Press key multiple times to cycle through the text entry modes. As you change modes, they are pictured on the screen. 4 D GHI + +- # A ABC

  13. What the Student Responder Keys Do Menu – Press to access the Main Menu. Press the Navigation keys to scroll the Menu. Press the Enter key to select a Menu item. Send/Enter – transmits student response Symbols - Press key multiple times to cycle through Symbols Table Jump/Search - Press key to jump to a question in a self-paced test or homework assignment. Press and hold key to search for the next unanswered question. @

  15. Testing the Student Responders Click on the CPS Hub icon and then on the “Properties” icon on the toolbar OR select “Properties” from the Options menu.

  16. Testing the Student Responders Click on the Test tab. Click on the “Start Receiver” button and turn on the clickers you want to test. Send responses from the clickers. Data will appear for each active clicker.

  17. What Happens If My Receiver Is Not Detected? Start the CPS Program by clicking on the icon on your Desktop Click on “Settings” along the top, And select “Delivery Options” Click on “Receiver” and then, “Show Device Manager”

  18. Detecting the Receiver When the eInstruction Device Manager window appears, Click on “Options”. Under Options, select “Discover Devices”.

  19. Detecting the Receiver When your the Device Manager detects your receiver, a green checkmark will appear beside its icon.
