PHILIP’S COLLEGE • In an evacuation order issued for your building, fully cooperate with Campus Police and: • .Take keys, briefcases, purses, wallets, coats, and other personal belongings. • .Do not use elevators. • .Remain calm, follow emergency guidelines and directions given by emergency personnel. • .Close, but do not lock, doors. • .Turn off all electronics, including computers. • .Evacuate in groups to ensure all are able to get out. • .Provide assistance to disabled individuals and others. Alamo Colleges Police Facilities: 210-486-2888 Emergencies: 9-1-1 Weather Line: 210-485-0189 Non-Emergencies: 210-485-0099 Website: www.alamo.edu/district/dps/main.htm FIRE .Notify the fire department, call 9-1-1. .Pull the fire alarm as you leave the building. .Notify occupants and help those needing assistance in the immediate area. .Confine the fire by closing doors as you exit. .Evacuate the building at the nearest exit. .DO NOT re-enter the building until authorized to do so by emergency personnel. MEDICAL EMERGENGY .Severe injury or illness, call 9-1-1 .Stay with the person .Render first aid or CPR if trained or qualified. .Supervisor should follow-up with affected individuals. NOTE: Emergency call stations are located at various points throughout the parking lots. Press the red button to call the Campus Police emergency line.Remember to provide the parking lot number. BOMB THREAT/EXPLOSION BOMB THREAT: If you suspect a bomb, do not use cell phones, two-way radios, or other electronic devise. .If threat is received by phone, remain calm. .Get as much information as possible from the caller. .Call 9-1-1 and follow instructions from emergency personnel. .Check work areas for unfamiliar items. Do not touch suspicious items. .Evacuate the immediate area. • VIOLENCE/ACTIVE SHOOTER • C A L L 9-1-1. • .If possible, exit the building immediately. • .If you cannot exit, secure the immediate area: • Lock, if able, and barricade doors. • Turn off lights • Close blinds and block windows. • Turn off radios and computer monitors. • 3. Remain calm, quiet and out of sight. • 4. Silence cell phones (do not turn off) INCLEMENT WEATHER (Tornado/Lightning) .Move quickly to an interior hallway on the lowest level. .Stay away from the windows. .Stay out of the rooms below large roof sections such as gymnasiums, auditoriums, or cafeterias. .Sit down or kneel on the floor against the wall with hands on your head. .Take cover under a sturdy table or desk for protection from debris. .Do not leave the building unless instructed to do so. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS/CHEMICAL SPILLS .Move away from the site of the hazard/spill to a safe location. .Alert others to keep clear of the area. .Call 9-1-1 and follow instructions from emergency personnel. .Notify 9-1-1 Operators of the type and amount of chemical spilled so they can inform the Fire Department. .Follow the Department’s established procedures.
