Gent for ISA • Part of traffic safety policy: • Reducing traffic accidents/victims • Rebuilding (main) roads takes time • Speed limiting devices are effective but expensive and have disadvantages • Awareness building is very important, but does not prevent a minority from speeding • Police control has limits

  11. Gent for ISA • Other reasons • to promote the city of Gent as a city that sets standards for road safety • to enlarge the basis for the implementation of ISA • making the public aware of the advantages of ISA • to assess ISA against speed limiting devices
