  2. Who was Michelangelo? First of All… He looked like… • For a living, he painted, sculpted, wrote poets, did some architecture work, and was an engineer. • He went to school and this helped him get ideas on art. • Michelangelo had no interest in school and • he would rather copy paintings from churches.

  3. Continued … I also have… • In 1501, he was noticed as one of the most talented sculptor of Italy. • His full name is Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni. • Michelangelo is from Caprese, Italy. • Michelangelo also moved several times, one place: Florence.

  4. Next I Have… Michelangelo’s Pieta sculpture • The statue was made for the cardinal's funeral monument. • He choose the marble block for his sculpture. • This is also very famous. • Michelangelo’s statue is one of the most finished works. He did not finish most of his works. • Special because that is the only work of Michelangelo that he ever signed.

  5. Then there's … You can’t forget the… The Sistine Chapel! • Michelangelo’s famous painting on the ceiling was the Creation of Adam. • He started painting in 1508 and finished in 1512. • This chapel is a long, colorful, rectangular ceiling.

  6. Last but not least… David (Sculpture) • Michelangelo finished before he was 30 years old. • He started in 1501and finished in 1504. • He spendedmonths selecting marble blocks which was used for David
