Ephesians 4:11-13 (ESV) • 11And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood] to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,

  3. Three different titles to refer to Church Elders: • Elder - maturity in the faith. • Overseer - function of superintending the church. • Pastor – to shepherd.

  4. 1 Peter 5:1-3 • “elders”… “shepherd [pastor] the flock of God among you, exercising oversight ….”

  29. What’s the goal? • Reaching the lost and discipling the church into authentic fully devoted followers of and for Christ.
