  2. Site Location • Located 1.3 miles south of downtown Collinsville • 60 acres • Bounded by: • Garnett/RR to east • Strip mine pit to south • Acreage to west • Faith Assembly Church to north

  3. Site History • Active from 1914 – 1925 • Zinc Smelter and Lead Roaster • Foundations and building footings remain • Private Residence 1935 - 2002

  4. Impacted Areas • Green-Areas that do not require cleanup • Pink-Areas that require cleanup to prevent unacceptable exposure through soil, sediment, and surface water

  5. Site Cleanup Goals • Site remediation goals are protective of human health and the environment • Impacts above the remediation goals will be addressed along with visual waste

  6. Record of Decision • Issued November 2008 • The remedy is the consolidation and capping of soil, sediment, and waste

  7. Proposed ROD Amendment • Groundwater impacts • No groundwater impacts • Eliminate state requirement or five foot separation • Treatability Study • Indicated treatment not feasible • Future Community Participation • Public comment period on proposed plan • Public notice and open house
