  1. Gas Section Objectives Meeting 2006 Gas systems Installation & Testing Mar CAPEANS

  2. Installation Dictionary • Infrastructure(power, cables, pipes, Ethernet, services…) • Installation: • Delivery of 100% tested racks to Points • Fixation of racks in final position • Support Team (component replacement, etc) • Piping work: • Cabling work:Experiments do Inter-Area cabling, connectors included (ATLAS do not do connectors). Gas Group do Inter-Rack cabling Mar CAPEANS

  3. April Oct Aug Sept Start RPC commissioning SingleP systems commissioned Start commissioning +Side Commissioning 2006 Schedule & Milestones Mar CAPEANS

  4. Test ScheduleWhen Racks Have to be Shipped Target Dates for Rack Shipment are defined by our Milestones, but somehow also by the period when External Companies are on site, ready to connect our racks Mar CAPEANS

  5. Test ScheduleWhen Racks Have to be Shipped Mar CAPEANS

  6. Summary Tests - TO DODistribution & Pre-Distribution Racks • Now - March • ATLAS: 3 • ALICE: 9 • LHCb: 11 • April • ALICE: 4 • May - June • CMS: 14 • July - August • ATLAS: 10 ~ 3 racks tested/week Mar CAPEANS

  7. Summary Tests - TO DOOther than Dist. Racks • Now to Summer 06 • Test of 3x Humidifiers • 6 x Pump (1x MDT, 2-3x LHCb, 3xCMS) • TGC supply • Compressors for LHCb RICH1&2 in 2007 • All electrical, Control Components • End 06 and 2007 • Purifiers • Analysis in 07 • Experiment Modules • Special TRT modules at the beg 07 • Membranes for LHCb RICH1&2 in 2007 Mar CAPEANS

  8. Detailed AnalysisAssumptions for Inter-Rack Cabling Work • We (Patrick & I) have taken into account: • that cables are installed with connectors at one or two ends • Lab-tests & estimates for cables inter-areas • for the final figures, we add a 20% contingency Typical Figures: Single-Path System ~ 0.5 days Closed-Loop System ~ 1.5 days Mar CAPEANS

  9. Inter-Area Cabling SP System ~ 0.5 days, CL System ~ 1.5 days Mar CAPEANS

  10. Inter-Area Cabling 1 person could do! Mar CAPEANS

  11. Detailed AnalysisAssumptions for Inter-Rack Piping Work • We (Fred & I) have taken into account: • Estimates based on ALICE SG experience • For the final figures, we add a 20% contingency Average Time: Single-Path System ~ 5 days Closed-Loop System ~ 13 days Mar CAPEANS

  12. Inter-Area Piping SP System ~ 5 days, CL System ~ 13 days Mar CAPEANS

  13. Inter-Area Piping ALICE SG Estimate: ~ 440 h Reality: 400 h FSU Team of 2 people needed to meet Installation Milestones Mar CAPEANS

  14. FTE for Installation Need to check tasks after Oct Support for Commissioning not accounted. Neither Fred & I Mar CAPEANS
