  4. RECRUIT • Members Of Congress • State & Local Elected Officers • Local Business Leaders • Local Community Organizations • Commercial Waterway Users • Recreational Users • Marinas • Developers • Government Agencies • Press

  5. AIWA PRESENTS THE SUMMER OF 2003 • TOWN MEETINGS • BOAT TOURS • LOCAL ADVISORY COMMITTEES

  6. TOWN MEETINGS • Held in 4 major cities • Partnered with BoatU.S. and Other Marine Organizations to Share Resources • Presented The BIG Picture to the Community • Created a Forum for Dialog • Recorded Sessions to Include in Report to Congress

  7. BOAT TOURS • Partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers • Invited Press and VIPs • Presentations Given to “Captive” Audience

  8. ADVISORY COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES • Develop a VISION For the AIWW • Represent AIWA in the Community • Keep State and Local Officials Informed • Build Local Membership • Eyes and Ears of the Executive Director

  9. ASSOCIATION RESPONSIBILITIES • Keep Committee Members Informed and Up-To-Date on the Issues • Develop a Good Relationship with the Press • Form Coalitions with Other Maritime Organizations • COMMUNICATE! COMMUNICATE! COMMUNICATE!

  10. REPORT TO CONGRESS • The Town Meeting Notes • The VISION Developed by Each Advisory Committee • Include Letters from Constitutients
